Insurance Claims
Some Insurance Companies imply that you do not have a choice where your vehicle is to be repaired – but you do. You can use whichever garage you choose and the insurer must meet all reasonable costs of the repairs.
Here is a very useful leaflet pulished by VBRA, titled 'Know Your Rights' which addresses this issue and gives lots of other important information for when an accident has happend.
In the Event of an accident
- We will carry out an estimate preferably at our premises or at your preferred address.
- If the vehicle is undrivable, we will let you have a Courtesy Car.
- If the vehicle is undrivable we can arrange to recover the vehicle on our transporter.
- We will fax the estimate to your Insurance Company and then telephone them to make sure they are in receipt of it and arrange an inspection date at our premise as soon as possible.
- We will monitor the situation and keep you informed at all times.
- When an engineer has inspected your vehicle and agreed figures, we will get the repairs carried out as quickly as possible.
We will let you have a Courtesy Car if required for the duration of the repairs. When the repairs are carried out, we will ask you to sign a Collection note and pay your excess if you have one. We will then send the invoice to your Insurance Company for payment.
If the accident is non-fault and you do not want to go through your Insurance Company we use a very good Accident Loss Recovery Company.
